The Grange extends a huge thanks to the Jeff.Co. Assoc. of Realtors, the Jeff.Co Home Builders Association, Carl’s Building Supply, and Coker Designs for all their volunteer work this last year to help maintain and repair the Chimacum Grange building.
For years, the Jeff.Co. Assoc. of Realtors has held their meetings at the Grange. Realtors being realtors, they saw where the Grange building could use a little help and took it upon themselves to volunteer and add the Grange to an impressive list of community causes they already supported. The Builders Association, Carl’s Building Supply, and Coker Designs were only too eager to join in.
A few things they have done: Replaced the front door; Repaired the main entrance awning; Painted windows and trim on the exterior of the building; Repaired the Ramp railing; Painted and repaired trim in the downstairs conference room; kitchen and bathrooms, and most recently; Bought us 16 brand new conference tables!
Furthermore, the work is not done. They count seven projects still on their list. At the top of the list: new chairs to go with the new tables. They’ve launched a GoFundMe site online to raise the funds for this next phase. Any support the community could pitch in would be much appreciated.
I asked Lisa St. John, Executive Director of the Jeff.Co Assoc. of Realtors to talk about some of their other volunteer work, and here is her answer:
Currently we have a auction/raffle at our Holiday party every year and the last 3 years we have split the proceeds between the McKinney-Vento Program which helps homeless students and is run be the school districts. This is a Federally mandated unfunded program. Although we give to each district, Chimacum really works this program!
The other program is our own non-profit REPAH (Real Estate Professionals for Affordable Housing). This program is primarily funded by Realtor members giving a portion of their commissions and the offices matching the donations. This program helps keep low income homeowners in their homes and we work with The Boeing Bluebills, Community Action, and many local businesses.
We also have our own designated area of the highway to clean in Port Ludlow and offices take turns to clean on a quarterly basis.
In the past we have worked with the Food Bank, Reading With Rover program at the Chimacum Schools, donated to school levies and bonds, and so many other programs I couldn't even list - this is all off the top of my head, but I hope this works for you for now!
Pretty heartwarming to learn all that people are doing to make our community a better place. Sincere thanks for all your help!
