For the past month, the Chimacum Grange has served as one of Jefferson County’s Covid-19 vaccination sites, safely immunizing more than 800 seniors and first responders in our community.
When we first opened up the Grange to prepare it for use, we realized the furnace no longer worked. And because we believe so strongly in community service, we dipped into the reserve building funds to replace the furnace so the immunization clinic could open on time.

This worthy yet entertaining documentary on YouTube is an eye opener. The documentary also goes into wasted land, water and inputs. The documentary is free, with a few ads. Filmmakers and food lovers, Jen and Grant, dive into the issue of food waste and pledge to quit grocery shopping and survive only on discarded food for 6 months. In addition, the film looks into expiry dates, perfect produce, and portion sizes, supposedly little things that add up to an overwhelming problem.

Join us for a dessert potluck and a holiday sing-along. Help us celebrate another great year! If you'd like to bring a dessert to share (not necessary) or an instrument for the sing-along, please do! Because it’s a party, we are meeting on a Friday instead of the usual Wednesday meeting time.
Nov 13th, 2019 - Meet Cliff Moore, New Director of Jeff Co WSU Extension
Come meet the new director of Jefferson County’s WSU Extension on Wednesday evening, Nov 13th at 7:00. A “Bring Food Optional” potluck will precede it at 6:30.
Per the WSU website: “Cliff Moore brings years of university, Extension and municipal government experience to WSU Jefferson County. He worked on the WSU campus in Pullman, served as the WSU Thurston County Extension Director and held senior county and city leadership positions for a decade. Cliff started his professional career as a Peace Corps Volunteer in, West Africa.”
We hope to have a brainstorming session with Cliff and others about how the Grange can integrate its educational efforts with WSU, the 4H, and intern programs. The Grange continues to bring in excellent speakers the second Wednesday of every month for years. With coordination, new speakers could be lined up and more people could benefit than we are currently getting to the meetings.
We'd love to see you there!
